Workshop Venue

Airport

The closest airport to the workshop location is Portland International Airport (PDX). This airport is served by all major carriers and many discount airlines as well. We strongly recommend booking your flights as early as possible to get the best rates.

Ground Transportation

Public transportation is available from the airport to downtown Portland. The MAX Red Line light rail service runs from the airport through downtown Portland every 15 minutes. Fare from the airport to downtown Portland takes about 40 minutes and costs $2.40. You can purchase tickets from automated ticket machines located in the airport lobby near the baggage claim area as well as on the MAX station platform. To get to the PSU campus, take the MAX Red Line to the Pioneer Courthouse Square (approximately 30 minutes). Get off the MAX Red Line and board either the MAX Green Line or Yellow Line to PSU. Get off the MAX at PSU, the end of the line. A sign will be posted at the stop directing you to the workshop registration location. Alternatively, refer to the campus map and agenda.

Returning to the airport is just as easy. Board the MAX Green or Yellow line one block west of where you got off, then at Pioneer Courthouse Square, take the Red Line to the airport.

Another option is to take a taxi. This is the fastest option, but also the most expensive one. Taxis are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the airport. A one-way trip to Portland State will cost $35 – $40 and will last approximately 20 – 40 minutes.

Lodging

There are many hotels to choose from in downtown Portland, close to the Portland State University.  However, rooms are available at the University Place Hotel and Conference Center for a discounted EWB rate of $82/night for stay between October 20-October 25th. University Place and other hotels in downtown Portland are all within walking distance to PSU.
